Bacon Pepper Buttermilk Biscuits

These delicious biscuits will hit the spot any time of day.  Loaded with black pepper and crunchy bacon.  Really outstanding warm with a little butter.  🙂

Ingredients
  • 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup butter, cold, unsalted
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and pepper. Slice butter into thin slices and add to flour mixture. Using a pastry blender cut butter into flour until mixture resembles small peas. Add crumbled bacon. Chill for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Add buttermilk to flour mixture. Stir until just moistened.
  4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Kneading 3 times. Press dough into a thick rectangle 9x5 inches about ½ inch in thickness. Fold dough over onto itself into 3 sections. Repeat process for 2 more times.
  5. On a lightly floured surface press dough to ½ inch thickness and cut with a 2 inch round biscuit cutter. Place dough side by side on baking sheet.
  6. Cook for 13 minutes or until biscuits are lightly browned.

Gooey Apple Dumplings

So quick and easy to make these delicious Apple Dumplings.  Impress your family and friends with this recipe and they are great for any part of the day.  Made with the large and flaky crescent rolls, a little butter, sugar and cinnamon.  Of course, can’t forget the granny smith apples.  YUMMY!

Ingredients
  • 2 packages crescent rolls (The Big & Flaky) type
  • Smart balance butter spread (I used ½ teaspoon on each crescent roll)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 granny smith apples sliced into 16 wedges
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix sugar and cinnamon together in small bowl.
  3. On each crescent roll, spread ½ teaspoon of smart balance and then sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar mixture. Take 1 apple wedge and place on the small pointed end of the crescent. Roll up the apple and tuck the ends around the side and on top.
  4. Place each rolled up crescent on a greased baking sheet (9x13). Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar over top.
  5. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Pure Southern Buttermilk Biscuits

Pure Southern Buttermilk Biscuits!  Yes, these biscuits are pure southern for sure.  Finish them off with a little melted butter brush over the top.  Can’t go wrong with these……  :)Enjoy!

  • 1 ¼ cups whole buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter for brushing tops of biscuits
  • Pinch of salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Slice butter into thin slices and add to flour mixture. Using a pastry blender cut butter into flour until mixture resembles small peas. Chill for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Add buttermilk to flour mixture. Stir until just moistened.
  4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Kneading 3 times. Press dough into a thick rectangle (9 x 5 inches) about ½ inch thickness. Fold dough over onto itself into 3 sections. Repeat process for 2 more times.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, press dough to ½ inch thickness and cut with a 2 inch round biscuit cutter. Place dough side by side on baking sheet.
  6. Cook for 13 minutes or until biscuits are lightly browned.
  7. Melt butter with a pinch of salt and brush tops of hot biscuits.

Strawberry Cream Cheese Mini Rolls

These are so good!!!!  Made with fresh strawberries, loaf bread, some cream cheese and powdered sugar.  They look very lovely on a serving tray for that next party.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup strawberries, smashed
  • 1 loaf white bread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter, melted
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In medium bowl combine cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Fold in strawberries.
  3. In small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. In small bowl, melt butter. Set aside.
  5. Spread 1 tablespoon of strawberry mixture on each slice of bread.
  6. Roll up bread. Using a bread knife cut each roll in half.
  7. Dip each roll into melted butter, and roll in cinnamon sugar.
  8. Place each mini roll onto ungreased baking sheet, seam side down.
  9. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
