Chocolate Sheet Cake Recipe

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup of sour cream
  • Icing:
  • 1 stick of butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  1. Combine butter, water and cocoa in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling remove from heat. In medium bowl mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add butter mixture and stir to blend. Whisk eggs and sour cream together and add to batter. Pour batter into 18x12 pan and bake 20 minutes.
  2. Icing: In saucepan, bring the butter, cocoa and milk to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Spread over hot cake. Cool
